The New York Knicks are heading to the NBA Finals for the first time since 1999. But they might have a little less support off the bench: Center Mitchell Robinson has reportedly broken his right pinky finger, per multiple reports.
Robinson’s current return timeline is reportedly unclear. It is also unclear how Robinson suffered the injury, though The Athletic reports he broke the digit earlier this week.
New York picked up its second straight sweep of the postseason with a dominant win over the Cleveland Cavaliers on Monday. Robinson played 18 minutes in Game 4, putting up eight points and 10 rebounds off the bench.
Robinson has been a key piece of the Knicks’ bench this season, averaging just under 20 minutes per game and 5.7 points and 8.8 rebounds.
The Finals will start Wednesday, giving the Knicks a little bit of extra time to rest. Meanwhile, their opponent is still to be determined: The Oklahoma City Thunder will try to close out their West final against the San Antonio Spurs in Game 6 on Thursday.
