President Joseph Aoun said Friday that the decision of monopolizing arms has been taken and won't be reversed, praising Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri for his efforts "to promote stability, support state rebuilding initiatives, and uphold the principle of state authority, including the monopoly on arms."

"The decisions of war and peace fall under Cabinet's jurisdiction," Aoun said, adding that Lebanon currently wants peace. "Peace is the state of no war and this is what we're currently interested in," he said, urging for unity and stressing again that normalizing ties with Israel "is not on the table."
